BROADCASTER

One night in late 2007, my daughter Lucy was asked to present a radio program by herself for the first time. She was quite anxious about that and so she and I headed off to the studios of 94.1FM 3WBC in suburban Melbourne and presented together, playing songs that had been on the charts on that day in the past 30 or 40 years.

The bug had bitten and before long I had my own program - Radio Ga Ga - playing the same kind of music each month. After relocating to Geelong eight years later, the program was given a new name - Turn Up Your Radio - and moved to 94.7 The Pulse, Geelong's leading community radio station.

In March 2020, I took a call from the station manager to talk about how COVID-19 lockdowns meant that the station was reducing its live broadcasting schedule to a couple of hours a day for the next "few weeks" until the lockdowns stopped. Fortuitously, the station decided to put me onto a show with Rob Cameron who had been presenting a sports program and The 2 Blokes Chatting Radio Show was born. Every Saturday morning since (with the exception of a break over the various Christmas periods), the program has gone to air with a much more on-going feel to the time slot! Rob and I have been incredibly fortunate to have interview some greats of the music, entertainment, sport and other fields of endeavour - click on the button below to reveal the list!

If you are struggling with some of these names, check out The 2 Blokes Chatting Radio Show web site at www.2bc.radio.

Also, somewhat fortuitously - right place, right time - I was invited to be part of the 3WBC VFL Commentary Team in 2010. After calling VFL - and later - VFLW matches with 3WBC, I established an online station (gofooty.live) to call Geelong VFL and VFLW matches. Sadly, that stopped when COVID-19 arrived and made a significant impact on these two leagues.

Since 2023, I have become a member of the Womens' Australian Rules Football (WARF) Radio team, giving me the chance to call football at the elite level - the AFLW.

In October 2025, I called my 200th game of VFL, VFLW and AFLW football. I have called games from a range of iconic locations including many that I first visited as a younger person following VFL (later AFL) games - click on the button below to reveal the list.
